A Train Away from Shopping Heaven!
Sunday, 18th April 2010
Although Lincoln’s High Street isn’t one of the biggest, it still provides us with fashion essentials. With the help of leading brands such as Topshop and River Island and everybody’s bargain favourite: Primark, Lincoln doesn’t leave us missing out. However, for the shop-till-you-drop lovers out there, you may feel like venturing further afield for shops that you unfortunately can’t find here. And Lincoln is in a prime location for reaching those shopping destinations.
The Victoria centre in Nottingham and Meadowhall in Sheffield are both renowned for a great shopping experience. Luckily for us there are direct trains to both running from Lincoln Central. Trains to Nottingham take only 50 minutes, and it saves the hassle of worrying about traffic when driving.
The Victoria Centre has the everyday stores like Boots and Next that we can get here, but has added benefits like Republic, Pulp and Lipsy which are missing from our high street. Sheffield does take longer to get to, with the average train journey being at just over one and a half hours.
However, on the plus side the train actually stops at Meadowhall which means less time trying to find it, and more time shopping! Meadowhall is much bigger than the Victoria Centre and features massive fashion retailers that are hard to find in most places, such as Superdry and Hollister.
So even though I’m happy with regularly visiting Lincoln high street, Nottingham and Sheffield are easy to get to and offer just that little bit more. If you fancy a shopping trip out, make a day of it and book your train tickets now!
