Monday, 14th June 2010
Tomorrow’s new fashion designers on the University’s BA (Hons) Fashion Studies programme have showcased their work at fashion shows held at the Engine Shed.
The Coming into Fashion 2010 show was held at the Engine Shed on 21st May and showcased the student’s own design collections. It also included awards that were given to a number of students from Vice Chancellor, Mary Stuart.
The Collections were a culmination of three years hard work from the students and inspiration was taken from subjects such as trinket boxes, origami, birds of paradise, the earth, monochrome and Japan.
Vice Chancellor, Mary Stuart described the show as; “Really wonderful. I have been here seven months and this is my first fashion show at the university and I would like to thank staff and sponsors for all their hard work.”
Fashion student Ketron Wards’ collection, entitled ‘Allure’, featured jewel coloured pieces with cinched-in waists and exaggerated shoulders. She said; “We all want to thank our tutors for all their help over the past three years.”
