Sex and the City Fever
Saturday, 1st May 2010
With the sequel due to be released this month, I couldn’t be any more excited. But will the styles of the 4 main characters reach Lincoln’s High Street?
I’m a typical girl when it comes to clothes, shoes, make-up and of course shopping and anyone that knows me will know how utterly excited I am about the new Sex and the City film due to be released this month.
I’ve been in love with the whole series since I was about 15 and hated the fact that it had to end. I’ve since been to New York (where the programme is set) and been on a tour of the filming locations. If you don’t already know (I would hope you do!) the show and now both movies are centred around the love-lives, careers and fashions of 4 ladies;
Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Charlotte York (Kristin Davis), Miranda Hobbs (Cynthia Nixon) and Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) and now that they are hitting the big screen for a second time, I couldn’t be any more excited about the prospect of seeing all the glitz and glamour of the city again.
In reality or ‘real life’ New York or rather Manhattan is quite a surreal place. To me, the buildings didn’t quite seem real. Almost like cardboard cut-outs. Something you’d see as a backdrop for some photography. Lincoln is also very picturesque but in a very different way.
As there is now less than a month till the next film, my excitement is beginning to take over. The heels, the hair and what some are saying, an affair?, are all anxiously waiting to be shown to the world.
As I’m writing this, I’m also reading that Kim Cattrall has hinted at the possibility of a third film!!
I don’t know if anyone else notices the amount of styles that were and will be taken from both the series and the films and are recreated on the high street. I remember when the first film was released there was an in flux of flowers in every size, shape and form all over the high street. Pat Field, the stylist on the show and films is a genius and someone I would long to meet and interview. All I can hope is that whatever happens, Lincoln’s High Street again sees some of the fashion (especially the shoes) from the movie. Then us ‘normal folk’ will be able to say “Carrie wore that!” One can only hope!
