Gino’s Restaurant
Gino’s restaurant located in the Bailgate area of Lincoln is a traditional Italian restaurant offering a wide variety of pastas, pizzas and speciality dishes.
Situated in the historic part of the city, Gino’s provides a friendly atmosphere, where two can enjoy a romantic meal, or large gatherings can book in advance to dine. The surroundings are more modern than traditional, and the tables are quite tightly packed. Just a short walk from the Cathedral, the restaurant offers a variety of beers and wines and it is recommended to make a reservation, as it can get quite busy.

Lincolnista Review
AN EVENING AT GINO’S
The prospect of walking up steep hill is never appealing. You seem to find yourself in some kind of eager, natural automation to get the trek over and done with. No one in Lincoln would bother with the stomp if it wasn’t for the unique, quaint and historic side of Lincoln that is hidden from the lower.
This particular journey had a focused intention; a meal at the ‘Italiano Ristorante’ Gino’s. I had heard a lot from friends about the restaurant; that it was stylish, spacious and served very nice food and the fact that it had celebrity chef Gino backing it made me even more interested.
I definitely wasn’t disappointed by the interior of Gino’s. Its design seems to incorporate a rustic flavour of traditional Italian restaurants and a modern mix of carefully integrated lighting. My first impressions of the ground floor was that it was small, especially seeing as it was very busy, but as the waitress guided us upstairs I was surprised to see an even busier, bigger and just as stylish top floor.
When we were seated we had the opportunity to survey the menu. It was refreshing to see a diverse array of food in contrast to some chain-Italian restaurants where the menus become stale and repetitive. Gino’s offer a variety of steaks, pastas, speciality dishes, pizzas and daily specials of fresh fish.
On this particular night Gino’s was very busy and our table of twelve unfortunately had to wait longer than we would have liked. The frustration of waiting however was soon forgotten when the large array of dishes was placed on the table.
Our table ordered a range of meals from Lasagne Al Forno, Penne Al Salmone con Gamberetti, Tallatelle con Frutt Di Mare to a Polle Alla Crema. The few of us that managed to save room were just as pleased as the mains when we all shared three tasty Italian deserts.
The food, mixed with the great atmosphere promises a great evening for party’s or even for couples looking for some intimacy. The service could have been quicker, but the food and the brilliant décor made the night great.
I had learnt two things from my evening; one, Gino’s is a stylish and unique restaurant with a delicious menu and two, walking down Steep Hill on a full, satisfied stomach is definitely better than walking up it.
