The Collection
A free to enter museum, embracing the region’s premier art gallery, The Usher.
The Collection, a museum which includes a wealth of artefacts from the Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages, Roman, Saxon, Viking and Medieval eras as well as fine, decorative and contemporary visual arts. The museum sits beside The Usher Art Gallery in the city centre, close to Steep Hill and enjoys views of the Cathedral. It also has a temporary exhibition programme.
At a cost of almost £12.5 million pounds, The Collection was a massive undertaking in 2005 by a partnership of Lincoln City Council and Lincolnshire County Council utilising funding from the European Regional Development Fund, the East Midlands Development Agency, Arts Council England and the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).
