Olympic Torch Relay Lincoln 2012Lincolnista once again breaking the news before anyone else of all the best things happening in Lincoln!

Residents of Lincoln will get to experience what could easily be a once in a lifetime experience to see and potentially carry the Olympic torch as it makes its way through Lincoln next year.

Lord Sebastian Coe had previously said that most UK residents would be no more than an hour away from being able to see the Olympic torch but we’ll be lucky enough to not have to travel at all.

As part of the torch carrying ceremony some 8000 people will be selected to carry the torch of which Sports Minister Hugh Robertson has promised that half of which will be under 24 to inspire young people to get involved.

The relay will have three sponsors- Coca-Cola, Lloyds TSB and Samsung all of which will get allocated a selection of the relay spots as well as determining the route which is trying to pass as many Lloyds TSB branches as possible.

Yay!  That was my starting nebumr when I was in the relay!  I tried really hard to take the sticker home a few days after the event, but that nebumr is stuck, stuck, stuck there.  I hardly get to see it since I don’t have a vehicle and never go that way, really.
