Coffee Shops : Blog!

All i wanted was a coffee!

Lincolnista Coffee ShopsIt now takes some of us longer to order a coffee then to drink it. When ordering a drink in any coffee shop/cafe, the waitress looks bewildered if you simply ask for a ‘coffee’ or a ‘tea’. You mean, no soya milk, wheat grass extract, or shot of caramel soufflĂ© flavoring? Are you sure?

I am a self confessed tea addict, I have at least 8 mugs a day. Therefore the huge variety of coffee shops and cafes available in any town or city center, is extremely useful when i’m needing my next caffeine fix.  Lincoln has something to suit everyone; quaint tea rooms in the cathedral quarter, vegan cafe’s surrounding the fashion boutiques on Steep Hill, and milkshake shops that create crazy concoctions out of anything you like in the high street.

There is nothing more satisfying than a polystyrene cup filled with your complicated hot beverage of choice on a chilly English day. I can have anything i want; milk, no milk, dairy free milk. Shot of vanilla, caramel, cinnamon, hazelnut; chocolate sprinkles, extra sugar, or sweetener. De-caff, hell I could even have Super Caffeinated if I wanted.

I tried carrying a flask of tea round with me for a bit, I even bought myself a shiny pink thermos, but it just wasn’t the same. There is something in the atmosphere of coffee shops, cafes and tea rooms. They are cosy and calming, a well needed break from the bustling high street. From the generic interior of Starbucks and Costa, to the charming and homely decor of traditional English tea rooms, nothing quite beats a cup of coffee and a slice of cake; or make that a de-caff mocha with soya milk, no chocolate sprinkles, and a pain-au-raisin. It’s your choice.

My pet HATE ( which is the height of bad manners,) Costa coffeehouse please stop making your staff begin the next customers order before you have finished my order, and because the staff are doing two orders they then ALWAYS repeat themselves to me, ie do you want anything else, do you need a reciept etc..twice somtimes three times. Just have the professionalism to serve one customer at a time…
Ps..mines a small americano with cream best coffee in town smile
