Why are Friday nights so quiet in Lincoln?
Wednesday, 28th July 2010
In every City across the UK you can almost be guaranteed that come 5pm on a Friday the computers are powered down, the ties come off and everyone heads to the bars to start their weekend in style, but not in Lincoln . . .
Lack of public transport, low incomes, cheap supermarket booze, whatever the reason is the number of people that choose to go for a couple of drinks after work on a Friday is no more than a handful to say the least.
Revolutions Bar in Lincoln is trying to change this though and have created 2 fantastic events for Fridays. First up is ‘Headstart’ from 5-8pm where companies booking a table not only get free cocktail samples, free food samples but also their first drink free! According to Adam Campbell who manages the Headstart events its much more than just great drinks offers; “Headstart is an after work social where businesses can come and kick start their weekend with a great atmosphere and the opportunity to get behind the bar and learn how to make cocktails!”
Following on from Headstart is Revolution’s Friday Night Feast. A concept created by Bar Manager David Nejrup to rejuvenate friday nights in Lincoln. “Friday’s are one of the best nights to go out, it still leaves your entire weekend free for whatever you want to do. Have a good night on a Friday and its almost like having a 3 day weekend!” exclaims David. Each week the Friday Night Feast will feature a new offer and for this Friday coming you can buy a double vodka and Redbull for only £2.50.
Will this create a shift in when people go out? Will Fridays become the new Saturday? Who knows, but with the end of the month comes pay day for the majority of Lincolnites and Revolutions is certainly set for a big weekend!
