Bar 67

Bar 67 at The Lincoln Hotel - Lincolnista

Closed for 25 years this stunning little gem of a wine bar is secreted away in the cellar of The Lincoln Hotel and now open for business.

The cellar bar was originally opened in the early 70’s and called The Buttery but closed in 1985 when the hotel went through an ownership change.  The intimate bar has a number of independent booths that are available to book and a fantastic bar stocking a massive range of wine, spirits and beers.

Bar 67 certainly fills a void in Lincoln’s nightlife offering of that of a dedicated wine bar and has dozens upon dozens of wines available to try.  One of the most innovative ideas is that of the ‘virtual bottle of wine’.  You get 6 glasses of wine for £15 but can choose from a selection to suit your taste, indeed having 6 different wines should you wish.  Plus if you only fancy a couple of glasses then that’s fine, they’ll save your other glasses until you return again which you’re sure to do!

Bar 67 also serves a fantastic range of meat and cheese platters, specialising in local produce it provides an amazing accompaniment for your drink of choice.

The first time we visited here we had a great night, cosy chair area, great table service, cheese boards, and great wine! the second time was a complete disaster (which i felt sooo embarrassed about as I dragged my friends here upon my strong recomendation!). 90% of the bar was hired out so we had to sit in a strange curtain area on uncomfortable high chairs. (I would have thought they could have done more with the remaining 10% area to make us more comfortable) The ladies loo had no toilet roll and no handwash either - totally unnacceptable - surely one of the first things u do before opening for the night is to ensure the facilites are accurate. We told the staff but they didnt do anything about it until 30 minutes later! So we left as soon as we finished the first drink instead of enjoying the cheese boards! the staff made no effort to attend to our table either. I can understand they were busy as the hired party was just about to arrive but we were paying guests too. the 1st and 2nd vist were like 2 completely different bars - not sure if I would return due to the toilets and the poor service.
