Whisby Nature Park
Perfect for an afternoon picnic, relaxing walks and wildlife spotting. Whisby Nature Park and The Natural World Centre sits in amongst lakes, woodlands and all kinds of wildlife.
Opened in 1989, Whisby Nature Park is the perfect place for a leisurely stroll, a brisk walk or to exercise your dog.
With 6 miles of walks around picturesque lakes, over 375 acres of woodland, ponds, grassland and wildlife, you’ll experience some of the best nature in Lincolnshire. It has been restored to nature after decades of sand and gravel quarrying.
The Natural World Centre promotes the use of fair trade and contains a permanent exhibition ‘Our Changing World’. This year has welcomed a new wildlife adventure playground.

Lincolnista Review
I’ve always loved the ‘great outdoors’ and it doesn’t really matter where I am, I’m quite happy to be braving the weather to go walking or to go for a picnic.
So whenever I go for a walk, run or take the dog around the lakes at Whisby, I find myself feeling calm and tranquil, you definitely don’t feel like you’re 10 minutes from the city centre.
The water tends to be clear and gives you a sense of being somewhere quite far away, not Whisby.
As for the Natural World Centre, I’d recommend the food in the restaurant, it is always very fresh and tasty, the shop provides some wonderful gifts and souvenirs. However, I find once you’ve visited the ‘Our Changing World’ exhibition there is really no need to see it again.
So, all in all, it’s the perfect place for summer picnics and walking in the winter snow, but the exhibition could do with a little updating. Even so, it’s still very enjoyable for all the family.

Review by fern emberSubmitted on October 10th, 2011 at 11:55 amBeautiful site with great facilities. Unfortunately ruined by the amount of dog pooh on Thorpe Walk. I have 4 dogs, and pick up after mine everywhere. It was so bad, I had to clean off my old girl's paws because she managed to walk in it. Such a shame, because the nature reserve are doing so much to try and encourage owners to pick up. Loads of dog bins and polite signs. Shame on you, those who don't pick up. Just because Thorpe Walk is off lead, there's no excues to leave your dog waste there.

Review by Rebecca RichardsonSubmitted on August 8th, 2010 at 8:42 pmI have visited at least once every year for the past 4 years and I am impressed by the additions/improvements each year. This year I am really happy to see a childrens play area that is different than I have seen anywhere. A cheap and interesting day out, recommended for all ages I'd say.
Review by sue wrightSubmitted on April 4st, 2010 at 7:13 pmI have lived near the park for 23yrs, and av seen many changes. I allways enjoy my walks with family and friends, even the dog, and think how lucky l am to have this nature park to walk round. I allways see something different either on the water or in the trees. Fabulous place.
