Sex and the City 2 - A Man’s Eye View
Saturday, 29th May 2010
Are you one of the many boyfriends about to be dragged to one of the biggest cinematic events of 2010?
So I settled down at 10:30am in the morning at the first showing of SATC2 and let me first just put this in context; the other half got bought the entire Sex and the City box set for xmas so in the past 5 months I’ve been involuntarily immersed in a world of Carrie Bradshaw and her 3 friends so I’m no stranger as to what to expect from this latest feature film offering.
Unlike a variety of film critics moaning about unrealistic story lines or commenting on the new wrinkles that have appeared on Carrie ‘horse face’ Bradshaw, I was always prepared to take the film for what it is - light entertainment; and with only that as an expectation I personally wasn’t disappointed.
BUT what about if you’ve been fortunate enough to avoid the box-sets and the previous film, what does it have to offer for a complete SATC heterosexual male virgin? Well it was almost as if the films producers were aware that many a boyfriend would be dragged kicking and screaming so just as the hormonal story line is beginning to get a bit too much a ‘couple of things’ would come to the rescue, sometimes those couple of things would be in a white wet t-shirt and BANG focus would be restored onto the big screen rather than concentrating on not getting a coffee one in the bag of Revels.
All in all out of the ridiculous range of rom-coms that we’ve been forced to endure in the past SATC2 feels more like light community service than a life sentence and lets get down to brass tax here, put a smile on your face and pretend you’d not rather be playing on the X-box and the chances of getting Sex in this City becomes almost guaranteed.
